Major Depression

Depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods of time.
True clinical depression is a mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss, anger, or frustration interfere with our everyday life for a long period of time. Many researchers believe depression is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain, which may be hereditary or caused by events in a person's life.

Some types of depression seem to run in families, but depression can also occur in people who have no family history of the illness. Stressful life changes or events can trigger depression in some people. Most of the time a combination of factors is involved. Men and women of all ages, races, different levels of people can have depression. Depression can also occur in children and teenagers.

So why do people go through minor depression and some go through major depression? What do you do?

Personally, I believe that different people have depression for different amounts of time due to the way they handle the event that made them depressed. Some people have something tragic happen to them and the end up dwelling on it and they end up starting to become quiet and socially quiet and so on. On the other hand other people are sad for a period of time but soon they change their mindset and try to stay positive and get back to the way they were before they became depressed.
