The Problem With Perfection

The problem with perfection is written by Mel Schwartz. This article is written by a psychotherapist, and in this article the topic of wether perfection is a burden or good thing.

Some people  who try to be perfect may feel trapped or have a burden on them causing uncessary stress. Other people who try to be perfect may believe that seeking perfection is a good thing because it allows them to set high goals for themselves. no matter the side effects of pursing pefection, such as stress.

People who strive to be perfect want to be flawless, without any defects, a person may also want their performance with any activity to be at a level of excellance that cannot be exceed by others. To some people perfection is vital to there happiness, others do not strive for perfection, they strive to make themselves happy, whether they are perfect or not, every person is different.

Question: Do you believe a person who is trying to achieve perfection is putting uncessary stress on themselves? Or do u believe perfection is a common goal that many people should try to achieve?

I do believe that a person who is trying to achieve perfection is putting unnecessary stress on themselves because people are not perfect and we have many flaws that we may not be able to fix. I don’t believe that many people try hard to achieve perfection because it does take some level of commitment and motivation to try to be perfect and many people are just too lazy or don’t have the time to do so.

I think that this is a common goal for some people becuase nowa days all people want to do is compete for the best. but it does put unnecessary stress on yourself. Not everyone is perfect so they will go out of there usual ways to be a perfectionist and put stress on themselves.

Yes i do believe a person who's trying to achieve perfection puts unnecessary stress on themselves, only because that puts stress on your body and mind. People should not "try" to achieve what they think is perfect, because anyone can be perfect in many different ways.

I believe that a person who is trying to achieve perfecting is putting a lot of unnecessary stress on themselves because there is no such thing as perfection. I don't think anyone should try to achieve it. It's not possible.

I don't think that striving for perfection is a bad thing necessarily. You have something to strive for; it gives you something to pursue. Unless you have extremely high expectations or are easily disappointed when you fail, I don't see how the stress could impact you negatively.

I agree with Mike. No one is perfect. To try and achieve the impossible will only lead to a person's own dismise. It will cause a lot of stress and make them feel very pressured and unconfident with themselves. Perfection shouldn't be a goal for anyone but "my best" should.

I definitely agree with Emily, I don't believe that perfection is a bad thing because people nowadays are lazy, and if there's people out there trying to be perfect and always trying there best then thats good for them, they will go far in life. As long as they aren't over the top and boastful and thinking they are the best thing then i don't see how it's a bad thing, and I believe that the stress would be good stress because you are working your hardest with a positive attitude.

I definetly agree with hilary and emily because perfection isnt a bad thing because some people are raised or brought up that way some people dont mind being perfect there are alot of people in this world that do wanna be perfect but dosent wanna take the time an effort to work at it. I think perfection is good to a certain extent as long as they dont go to far with it.Perfection probably does bring stress but in the end its all worth it.

I believe a person who is trying to achieve perfection is putting uncessary stress on themselves because everyone has to face and realize no one in this world is perfect.
whether it can be something with their looks, personality or background life. Everyone has to face reality the same and when your trying to be perfect, your trying to hard because everything should come natural upon yourself to what you really are.

i do believe that a person who si trying to achieve perfection is putting unecessary stress on themselves because noone is perfect or as perfect as they seem. those who seem as though they are perfect are actually struggling to perfect themselves. to be perfect you need to have no flaws about you or anything about you. thats impossible just because life is full of mistakes. for you to go through life as a perfectionist is like walking on a beach without getting sand on you. it just doesnt work.

Nobody can truly achieve perfection and therefore it causes uneccessary stress in life. People will try and try to get to what they think is a perfect state but once theyre there they still continue because that still wont be good enough. This can cause tremendous anxiety.

I believe that a person who is trying to achieve perfection is just putting unnecessary stress on themselves because there is no such thing as perfect. People will always find new flaws in themself so trying to achieve perfection will just result in stress without success. Perfection is an impossible standard to meet in the eyes of society since it makes people feel like they have to look a certain way to be accepted and look and feel good about themselves.
