Article Overview- This article is about how people view you, and how it may differ from the way you see yourself.
Question-
Do you think that you can learn things about yourself from others that you didn’t know before, or do you feel that you know your self the best? Why or Why not?
I believe that we learn the most about ourselves from others. This is why we have best friends. Your true best friends can tell you the truth and in a way that doesn't hurt you. I think that your friends see in you qualities about you that you can not see in yourself. The best part is they see the good and the bad and still except you anyways. I think we often see ourselves the way we want to, it is easier that way. Sometimes to "look in the mirror" is hard to do and really experience who you are as a person.
I think that you can learn more things about yourself from others than from yourself alone. I agree with Momma Hunt that best friends are great to have because they let you know if what you're doing is alright and what to change to become a better person. Many times you learn things about your character and personality when you are arguing and someone yells out something awful but true. This most likely will come out the wrong way and may hurt you, yet it is useful for you to know your flaws so that you can change them. It is better for people to tell you what they experience from your actions and behaviors because it may not be the same as you intended. Sometimes a person acts differently than they mean to.
I believe that you learn about yourself more from other people. As Momma Hunt said, a best friend is the primary example of why this is true. They tell you the truth no matter if it is good or bad. You may not see the problem that you are doing because you don't want to believe it, but that is where the best friend comes in and tells you the truth. Sometimes you can be in denial to what you do and what you say, but a best friend will tell you and help you better yourself.

I agree with Mrs. Hunt when she says we see ourselves the way we want to. No one is perfect… we all have our faults. Sometimes we do things that we don’t notice. Personally for me, it’s my tone of voice when speaking at certain times. I tend to talk really loud when I don’t know it, but friends have told me how I actually sound. If they never told me, I would never know that my tone was such a way. Another common example of this would be people that give dirty looks or roll their eyes without them knowing they do it. Doing so could be natural to them, something they don’t notice, but the person opposite them can tell them the actuality of the situation. You are the only person who knows what goes on inside your head 24/7. Us as people aren’t able to physically see or sometimes hear how we project ourselves to others, which we should rely on others to tell us. I do feel we know ourselves the best, but by hearing what other people say about you, you can learn even more about yourself and maybe even make changes to benefit you.
I think that we learn more from other people about how we act. One may act in a certain way and think it's okay but they won't know how it affects other people or how they come off to be. I could say something to someone and not know how it affects someone unless they bring it up.If they went without letting me know what i was doing, I could continue acting the way I do not knowing the truth of what I say or do. What i think would be okay saying might not be okay with those around me. Like Amy said, we as people are use to doing things naturally but we don't know how we portray ourself until someone tells you otherwise. We know ourselves best but we can grow as person and learn more from those around us.
I think u can learn better from other people because you might think that that way you act is normal but other people might think something else. for example if you like to party you would think your self as someone who has fun but other people might think that you are a slacker. this is why i think you can learn better from people instead of your self because people think different than you.
I think that you do learn things about yourself from other people because you only see yourself by you lookin out not someone looking in. you might think you do something thats okay but to another person it could be different. you learn from people what they precieve you as not just how you do. sure you know youerself the best because it's you but it could be different to other people and you culd learn what others see.
I believe that you can learn a lot about yourself from other people. Many things can be viewed differently by yourself and other people. For example, you may make a comment that you see fine, but others may view it as a sarcastic remark, even though it wasn't in your mind. Also, people do many actions without thinking of them, and others may see them more clearly than yourself, and they may address it to you, rather than let you continue to do it because you never noticed. You can always learn about yourself from others.
I think that you learn more about yourself from other people as well. You may think one way about yourself on the inside, but on the outside you may be completely different. Also you learn a lot more from people surrounding you. You may know yourself the best, but you definitely learn more from the peers that surround you.
Some people often seem to have a skewed vison of themselves, I know i do. Some people often think they are different than they are, whether it be self esteem, or other reasons. But I think that the best way to learn about ourselves is by listening to what other people say about you, because they might be seeing you in a completely different perspective than what you see yourself.
I believe that you can learn alot of new stuff about yourself from other people. You see yourself very different from the way other people see you. The reasoning for this is because people see you in a different perspective then you see yourself. People see your body language and the way you present yourself to people. Those things can always give people a different perspective of what they think the kind of person you are.
