In this article, psychologist Seth Meyers argues that Facebook is compared to OCD with most people with today’s society. Not only that it’s a problem, but it is also the cause for many relationship problems.
They believe that Facebook is giving many people symptoms of jealousy and paranoia. When people are interested in someone, they will end up checking their Facebook page obsessively every time they are on. This is because they try to get more information on the person to see if they are with someone else or what have they been recently up to. But when they actually get into a relationship with the person, then the Facebook stalking gets worse, because they try to see who else is writing on their partners walls and how do they know each other. Also, people tend to get worried whether they are being mentioned in their partners statuses or if they have posted and pictures on them two together yet for everyone else to see.
The article compares the Facebook situation to “OCD” because it is basically at the same level as OCD since people are always on Facebook and use it for so many things that is has now become a problem. One of the worst things about Facebook is that it breaks a lot of relationships because of someone posting up pictures or a wall post that upsets the partner.
Or even sometimes it’s because of misinterpreting something that was meaningless. Another thing is that when going on the social network to look someone’s Facebook, it will sometimes ruin people’s day because they would see something that upsets them and even though they knew they should have not looked at it, they now did and it makes them feel sad and lonely.
My Question to you is: Do you think you have Facebook OCD? And has is affected any of your relationships?

Sometimes I do believe that I have facebook OCD. I think that everyone who uses it gets it because they think that facebook has everything about everyone. I think that yes, facebook did and still does affect some of my relationships and I know that I need to get away from it.
I don't have facebook OCD. Honestly...to me, Facebook is boring. I don't spend more than 5 minutes on it. Only when I need to check my notifications. That's it. Other than that...I'm never on it. And I'm not in a relationship so I wouldn't know if it would affect it. If I did have a relationship though, I probably would check Facebook more often than I do now.
I do not think i have facebook ocd, but honestly i do go on it daily to check notifications. Also I know alot of people whos relationships have been affected by facebook, and i think thats one of the biggest problems with it.
Yes, I think facebook has OCD. Facebook use to be fun. Now all it does it bring drama. I think that females are the ones who has OCD when it comes to this network, because they get jealous quickly, and they are constantly going on the page of some one that they like or their boyfriends. No facebook has never affected any of my relationships because I refuse to let it get that far.
I do not believe i have facebook OCD, i go on it at times when im bored and have nothing to do, but i dont feel obsessive over it. However, i do believe there are people that do have facebook OCD, maybe because in person they're anti-social and friendless, so the only place they have for comfort IS facebook. I however do not suffer from this.
I do find that sometimes I have Facebook OCD because I am constantly on it. Even when I am away from the computer I find myself on Facebook Mobile. Also, even when I know there is nothing else to look at, I still refresh the page in hopes of seeing something else. Facebook hasn't directly affected any of my relationships, but I have heard of problems people have had due to it.
Yes, I believe I have Facebook OCD whenever I log onto the site. I'm trying to cut down on going onto Facebook, but before, every time I would go onto the computer I'd be on Facebook. Even if that wasn't the reason I was on the computer, it was just automatic for me to sign into Facebook. Then once I was on I'd be checking on my homepage about every 5 minutes. In the past, yes it has affected my relationships because I would see something unnecessary that I wouldn't want to see them doing or saying. Seeing things like that just over complicates a relationship.
I personally do think that facebook is definatly an OCD. I remember when i first got a facebook. I was repeatidly checking it and looking at peoples new statuses all the time. I would sometimes spend hours on it. As of now I've realized that there's more to life than just facebook, but other people depend on it in their lives. I've seen some of my friends fgo on and repeatedly check other peoples pages just to see what they were up to, all because they were interested in them. Finally, i myself have been in a situation where my feelings have been hurt over some statuses my friends posted that i found somewhat insulting.
I do believe I have some facebook OCD. I don't spend everyday on it, but when I'm bored its something I do check. When I don't have time for facebook and have a lot of new notifications, I feel like I missed out on something online sometimes. Since facebook is behind a screen, people are more open about there feelings online. This could definitely cause fights and ruin relationships.
I believe that I have a slight OCD when it comes to Facebook. It is something in which i tend to check everyday because I get bored every so often. I usually check what my friends are up to and I talk to my boyfriend on it as well. It is just something that I feel like I need to do or i will feel left out since i am not on it. I usually just leave it open and never really go on it unless someone talks to me.
No, not at all I'm never on the computer or watching TV usually doing something else. I go months without going onto facebook. And, yes it effects relationships, when people talk on facebook or start something for no reason sometimes it effects friendships also.
I believe that I do have facebook OCD. Even though i do not spend all my time on facebook i am on it when i can be. Facebook has not personally affected any of my relationships but i do beleive that it could have the potential to. Overall i believe that facebook can be very addicting to people that have nothing to do during the day.
I do believe that people have Facebook OCD, although i don't think that i have it but id do check out other people's walls. Facebook OCD is probably quite common because it is very easy to just click a couple of buttons and see everything that person's done all day and who they've been talking to latly.
There is no doubt in my mind that I have facebook OCD if there is a such thing. I am constantly checking facebook and the same peoples profile every time I log on. Actually I dont ever log off. I have facebook downloaded on three different devices that I constantly can access, and I get text notifications of certain peoples status. This leads to problems sometimes, and obviously obsession. If one person says the wrong thing on facebook, youll be sure to see it and quite possibly take it the wrong way.
I Absolutley agree that people suffer from ocd because they are so caught up checking up on other people such as thier boyfriend, friends, etc. People use this to catch thier friends cheating, talking about them, seeing what comments people are leaveing etc. I belvie this causes alot of unncesary drama and messes with alot of people becasue thier is people out their that do things delibertley to see couples argure or break up. But the best thing to do is stay away from facebook it takes up to much time and casues to many problems/distractions.
I personally believe that me, along with MANY others, deal with a facebook OCD. Facebook used to be something I would go on once every couple of days just to see what everyone was up to. Facebook used to be fun. Now, every day when I get home, I hop on facebook, and can't seem to get off. Facebook has consumed the lives of many teens, pre-teens, and even adults, and this needs to change. Facebook OCD is spreading fast, and needs to be stopped. People are too worried about what others are doing, and all facebook does now is cause issues because people get jealous of others way too quick. So yes, all in all, i believe that I have a facebook OCD. I need to learn how to manage my facebook time better!
I don't think I have Facebook OCD. I don't obsessively check other people's walls. I think people that do are crazy and freak out about everything no matter how meaningless. If someone gets upset about a picture and are willing to end the relationship because of it, they shouldn't have been in a relationship in the first place.

I do think I have facebook OCD. I am constantly on facebook throughout the day. Even though I'm not always on an actual computer, I have facebook mobile on my blackberry which allows me to access the internet whenever I want. I've never had a problem with a relationship really though. I guess it can effect relationships due to the fact that people are jealous of what other people are writing on their significant other's wall.
I dont think i have facebook OCD. This past week i havent really been on facebook. However, when i forst got a facebook you would always see me on it. Now i just think i got over it because its all around me. I do beleive facebook affects relationships because things can be said out of context. Your not face to face so you dont really know the tone of voice someone is using while saying something.
I don't think I have facebook ocd because I don't go on facebook that much anymore. Before I used to go on everyday and kept refreshing the page to see if anyone wrote on my wall, but now I really don't care. Facebook hasn't affected my relationships because I don't care what other people do so I don't check.
I believe that I do have facebook OCD. Before it used to be just for fun, checking what everyone is doing with their lives and stuff. But now, I'm always on, even if I nothing to do on it. I constantly check people's profiles, pictures, and also the newsfeed. Newsfeed allows you to read people's statuses and after a few minutes, know what they are talking about when people comment on them. The first thing that I do when i turn on my laptop is go on facebook or maybe even check people's profiles. I'll sometimes check my friends or family's profiles and see what they are upto and who they are talking to and etc.
I think i don’t have OCD for Facebook. I have a Facebook but i never go on it so it stops me from looking at other peoples pages. But i do see that a lot of my friends that are in relationships check their boyfriends pages and they obsesses about what other female write on there walls. Additionally I think that if I were to go on all the time then I definitely know that I would check the page of the person I liked. Lastly I think that people will continue to stock people’s pages and it will get worst as time goes by.

No, not at all I'm never on the computer or watching TV usually doing something else. I go months without going onto facebook. And, yes it effects relationships, when people talk on facebook or start something for no reason sometimes it effects friendships also. They could see something that was not meant for them to see or hear.
i personally dont have Facebook ocd - i go on maybe once a day, maybe once every two days. i do however remember the craze i used to have with myspace. i would be on myspace ALL THE TIME personalizing my profile etc etc etc. this ruined a lot of the face-to-face relationships i had with people. Facebook, myspace, and just the internet in general is very addictive and things like facebook that can be updated every three seconds becomes an OCD in a sense.
I do think that i have facebook OCD. I think this because i'm constantly on it and even when i'm near a computer I find myself having to go on and check and notifications or messages. I also use it as something to do when i'm bored or can't go out. It becomes addicting because you want to know about the person's life and facebook is like stalker central.
I may love to go on Facebook at LEAST once a day but if I don't go on for a few days it won't kill me. It personally has never gotten between my relationship. But I could see how it could cause problems if I were to talk to a bunch of guys on Facebook that may cause my boyfriend to get jealous. But I do agree that many other people do get caught up with always looking at the people's Facebook's that they are in a relationship with just to see what their up to or who they're talking to.
