Fantasy Weddings Can Hurt More Than Your Wallet

Summary
This article was put together by psychology today editors. It talked about how divorces increased but so did weddings. The weddings may be about the bride and groom but really the bride is all about setting up and preparing that “perfect fairytale” wedding. The price for a wedding ranges from $19,000 -$30,000.

What really gets a brides attention is the bridal advertisements, especially in magazines, the ads in these magazines are magnificent the way they are put together because they grab the bride’s attention. The bride wants to be treated like a princess for the day and she wants everything to be perfect, and in order.

“Dr. Laurie Rudman at Rutgers University was interested in finding out the effects of romantic fantasies on women’s psyches.” Rudman found subconscious and the way they viewed romantic fantasies was big when thinking of their wedding day.

My question to you is do you really need alot of money to have your fairytale wedding? Why?

I don't think you need a lot of money to have your fairytale wedding. Money and material things shouldn't be of much importance on your wedding, but that is what everyone cares about. You're becoming legally bound to the person you love, which is exciting as it is and should be the main idea of a wedding. Instead, everyone gets excited about what your cake is going to look like and stupid stuff like that.

It really depends on who the person is that is getting married. Sometimes women are brought up in a rich home and are spoiled, therefor they expect to have an "over the top" wedding and nothing less. Personally, I think weddings are supposed to be only about tying the knot between two people in love and it should be based on that fact, not on the expensive flowers, dresses, and the follow up reception. If two people are truly in love, then that should be the only thing that matters.

I do not believe that you have to have a lot of money to have the perfect fantasy wedding. I don't think money, and expensive decorations, food, etc will make up the wedding. Yes, it's nice to have nice things for the wedding, but at the same time you don't have to by the most expensive. I think what really makes the wedding is that you're marrying the person you love, with who want to celebrate it with around you.

i feel like it all depends on what you think is a "fantasy wedding". your wedding could consist of going to the court house and getting married to the man you love and you would feel so great about the situation. others may think that your "fantasy wedding" should be extravagent and everyone in the whole world has to be there to see you get married to the man you love. like the love for the groom isnt enough for them to be happy.

I think it depens what kind of person you are. If you always dreamed of having a huge wedding you need alot of money. But if your fantasy wedding was something little but you want everyone there you dont need a lot of money.

I believe that fantasy weddings can be catergorized in many diffrent ways. I believe people can have a very nice simple wedding but it can be extravagent at the same time. I believe that you have to go to the right places to get the bargings for cheaper things, its based on where you go. I also think that you can get donations and things from other charities and things like that if you really need it. so no i dont think you need alot of money to have a fantasy wedding.

I do not believe that people need a surplus of money to have a fairtytale wedding. I believe based on someones income, personal likes, and their finicial situation should determine how much money spend they spend on a weeding. Therefore, some people may want to have their fairytale weddings while others want something simple, either way a surplus of money IS NOT NECCESARY to have a fairytale wedding.

I don't believe you need alot of money to make a fairytale wedding. It really does depends on what the couple may consider to be a fairytale wedding, other than that there are cheaper ways in making your wedding possible and memorable for both the bride and the groom. A fairytale wedding is a wedding that at the the end of the day you feel it was a successful. A lot of money is not necessary.
